Tom Lyons
As an experienced litigator and accredited specialist in personal injury law, Tom has successfully resolved thousands of complex personal injury matters over the previous two decades. Prior to joining Meridian, Tom led a highly regarded team of lawyers assisting health professionals with disciplinary matters and negligence claims.
His depth of knowledge and experience enables him to assist clients across all aspects of health law including medical negligence claims, disciplinary matters, insurance disputes, inquests, and in matters before the NCAT and other administrative tribunals.
Tom’s expertise in advising insurer clients with CTP claims is highly developed given many years of experience with litigated and unlitigated matters, including major and catastrophic claims, brain injury cases, fraudulent claims, compensation to relatives claims, recovery claims, and administrative disputes. He has achieved successful outcomes in the Local, District and Supreme Courts as well as the Court of Appeal where he is responsible for a number of key legal decisions. He is an accomplished advocate and regularly appears before the Personal Injury Commission.
Tom is known for his demonstrated ability to resolve matters sensitively and efficiently. His approach and depth of insight have led to his acknowledgement as a leading insurance lawyer by Doyle’s Guide for several years.
