Paul Baram
Paul has practised as an insurance lawyer for more than 30 years. Over the last 23 years he has built a specialised practice in health law, working closely with medical defence organisations in the defence of complex health liability claims, including catastrophic injury claims.
He has represented general practitioners and medical specialists in cases such as delayed diagnosis, misdiagnosis, adverse surgery outcomes, and complex birth cases.
Paul is also experienced in liability and personal injury litigation representing insurers and self-insured entities in the construction, retail, hospitality, local government and security sectors. He has defended complex liability matters, catastrophic and major claims, and general insurance claims. He has advised on contractual, insurance indemnity and workers’ compensation recovery issues arising from these claims and has a thorough knowledge of the Civil Liability Act 2002 (NSW).
Paul is held in high regard across the health litigation industry and is the General Editor of the LexisNexis newsletter, the Australian Insurance Law Bulletin.
He is recognised for his expertise in professional malpractice and insurance law in the peer-review guide, Best Lawyers in Australia, and as a leading practitioner in the area of defendant medical negligence and malpractice in Doyle’s Guide.
