Senior insurance lawyer, Shannon Mony, has joined Meridian’s Perth team as a Principal.
Last month Meridian announced it had opened a Perth office, headed by Principal Mark Birbeck. Managing Principal Paul Baker said “the decision to expand Meridian’s presence in Perth was the result of overwhelming client urgings and that expanding our legal service offer into Perth was an obvious progression and consistent with the firm’s overall strategic plan.”
Paul further commented “I am thrilled to be welcoming Shannon our team. She is an exceptional lawyer whose background in health law and insurance perfectly aligns with our client base and legal service offering in Perth. Shannon’s expertise bolsters Meridian’s national presence and solidifies our status as a leading Australian law firm in the insurance sector.”
Shannon’s insurance litigation specialty is well known across the profession, specifically her expertise in medical negligence, health law and professional indemnity claims. Shannon has acted on behalf of hospitals and doctors in a wide range of medical areas including obstetrics, neonatal, gynaecology, rural medicine, oncology, emergency medicine, clinical pathology, general surgery and ophthalmology.
With an extensive depth of experience, Shannon has also managed claims involving catastrophic injuries including cerebral palsy and neurological deficits resulting in paraplegia, and has also acted for various allied health professionals including physiotherapists and chiropractors. Beyond this, Shannon has defended claims on behalf of a wide variety of professionals including engineers, accountants, construction contractors and insurance brokers.
A very warm welcome to Shannon!
