Jacinta Long
Jacinta is a defence and coverage expert in product liability/recall and general liability, with more than 25 years of legal expertise. She represents underwriters and large corporates in the Australian, Japanese, and London markets. She regularly appears in complex, novel, and sensitive matters.
Jacinta’s recent product recall experience extends to advising upon and conducting the necessary Australian regulatory response to a global recall of industrial equipment. Her expertise also includes being contracted to provide 24 hr hotline recall services if needed, to a global pharmaceutical company. Her experience also extends to acting in large scale international product subrogation recovery matters.
Jacinta’s considerable expertise in defending claims arising out alleged defective products, includes defence of matters involving industrial equipment, automotive and consumer products. She acts as defence counsel in a range of personal injury claims that include high value silicosis/psychiatric injury claims against the manufacturers and suppliers of engineered stone. She has also acted in psychiatric claims arising out of open mine cutting activities on behalf of mine operators. Her product liability expertise also includes representing manufacturers/suppliers at Royal Commissions and Inquests.
In the area of general liability, Jacinta provides coverage advice and acts as defence counsel in a range of property liability matters, defending breach of contract and negligence claims. Her experience in property liability includes land slip, agricultural claims, alleged vibration damage from cross river rail, equipment malfunction.
Jacinta is recognised by Best Lawyers Australia as a leading Insurance Lawyer and Leading Product Liability Lawyer. She is also acknowledged for her Public and Product Liability expertise and Professional Indemnity expertise by Doyle’s Guide.
Jacinta was invited to tutor in Commercial Law at both the Queensland University and Queensland University of Technology. She was a foreign registered lawyer 2015 – 2023 and is admitted to practice both in Queensland and New South Wales.
