Joanne Hayes

Joanne has a wealth of experience in medico-legal matters having acted for a wide range of medical practitioners and other health care professionals in civil claims, inquests and disciplinary investigations by both statutory bodies and Local Health Districts. Joanne has assisted practitioners in responding to Medicare/PSR investigations and proceedings arising from alleged fraud and billing inconsistencies. Joanne also advises on accreditation and VMO appointment issues.

Prior to commencing her legal studies, Joanne qualified as a Biomedical Technologist (Histopathology and Cellular Pathology) and completed her internship at Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Cape Town. She has completed courses in Health Law and Forensic Medicine. Joanne presents to industry associations on issues impacting health professionals and has been published in a number of leading health law publications.

Joanne’s experience and expertise enables her to provide pragmatic advice and solutions to health care practitioners which takes into account their professional reputation.

She has been recognised in the peer-review guide, Best Lawyers in Australia since 2022, for her expertise in Health and Aged Care Law and Medical Negligence since 2023.
