Kellie Dell’Oro
Kellie’s deep expertise and knowledge in insurance and health law has been derived from more than 30 years’ experience representing health care providers, the subject of litigated and non-litigated claims, disciplinary complaints, prosecutions, employment investigations, health fund audits, and coronial inquests.
Kellie is appointed to the legal panel of the insurer of all public hospitals in Victoria as well as the legal panels of leading medical defence organisations and a leading insurer of allied health practitioners. She acts directly on instructions from corporate healthcare providers, including private hospitals, as well as companies who are contracted to provide medical services to prisons in Victoria.
Kellie has extensive professional indemnity and personal injury claims experience. She has acted for years for large-scale insurers and was recently appointed to the Victorian Government Legal Panel in the area of personal injuries.
Apart from her dedicated client work, Kellie is deeply involved in training and improvement across the healthcare and insurance law industries. As co-author of successful books, risk management initiatives and training programs, she combines deep legal knowledge with a passion for helping others. She is an active member of several industry professional risk committees including the Australian Dental Association, the Australian Osteopathic Association, and Pharmacy Defence Limited, is a regular contributor to their industry publications, and regularly presents at health and insurance forums.
Kellie is the Chair of Meridian’s Social Responsibility and Pro Bono Committee, supporting initiatives, programs, and policies that make a genuine difference to those less fortunate.
Kellie has been recognised in Best Lawyers Australia as a leading lawyer in Insurance Law since 2017 and in Medical Negligence since 2019. In the 2022 edition of Best Lawyers, Kellie was selected as ‘Lawyer of the Year’, by her peers, for her work in Medical Negligence in Melbourne. Doyle’s Guide also recognises Kellie as a recommended Medical Negligence & Malpractice Lawyer (Defendant) in Victoria.
